"When my son was struggling with Pre-Calculus during the school year, we knew we needed some extra help. We reached out to Lindsay, and were pleased with the help we got. She was super nice and upfront about pricing, expectations and communication. She set up a meet for my son to meet with her too, to make sure they vibed well. She was knowledgeable, had flexible hours and available as much or little as we needed. And subject to changing that if need be...We had a great experience with her and would use her again!"

  • What forms of payment do you take?
Cash or checks payable to "Lindsay Nilsen" are preferred. A receipt will be given at time of payment.
  • Why is a single session more expensive than an ongoing session?
At Math-It-Up Tutoring, our pricing structure reflects the time and resources required to tailor our services to each student's individual needs. Single tutoring sessions are priced slightly higher than ongoing sessions because they typically involve more extensive preparation, customization, and flexibility in scheduling. Also, scheduling a single session may require rearranging the tutor's existing schedule, resulting in additional costs. In a single session, we invest additional time and effort into understanding the student's unique challenges, adjusting the lesson plan on the fly, and providing immediate feedback and support. On the other hand, ongoing tutoring sessions allow the tutor to develop a deeper understanding of the student's learning style and needs over time, which can result in a lower cost per session. We are committed to delivering high-quality, personalized instruction that maximizes each student's learning potential, and our pricing structure reflects the level of dedication and expertise we bring to each tutoring experience.
  • Where are sessions held?
Our in-person sessions are held in a public location that is conducive to learning and agreed upon prior to a session (Ex. Martin's Supermarket, Starbucks, Public Library, etc.) Math-It-Up Tutoring is committed to providing high-quality and effective tutoring to help students excel in math.
  • Do you charge a travel fee for specific locations?
Yes, tutoring sessions may have a travel fee depending upon the location. The travel fee is calculated by the distance and travel time of the tutor to the agreed location. This fee will be communicated during the first meeting. For an estimate, please contact us.
  • Are your tutoring time frames, or days of the week flexible at all?
Available time frames will be updated on Facebook and the website to the best of our ability. However, feel free to contact us to discuss your specific scheduling requirements, and we will do our best to find a suitable tutoring solution for you.
  • How can I schedule a tutoring session?
Scheduling a tutoring session with Math-It-Up Tutoring is simple and convenient. Our hours of availability and email at the bottom of our website. Please fill out the Google Enrollment Form found on this website and we will recommend a session that fits your needs.
  • Should I tip my tutor?
While tipping your tutor is not expected or required, it is certainly appreciated and can serve as a wonderful acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication your tutor has put into helping your child(ren) succeed. If you feel inclined to show your gratitude in this way, it is entirely up to your discretion. Additionally, other forms of appreciation, such as positive testimonials or referrals, are also highly valued and greatly contribute to our community of learners.
  • What is Math-It-Up Tutoring's policy for rescheduling, cancellation, and no-shows?
At Math-It-Up Tutoring, we understand that unexpected events may arise, and flexibility is important. If you need to reschedule or cancel a tutoring session, we request that you provide us with at least 24 hours notice. We also understand that emergencies happen, so please reach out to us as soon as possible if such a situation arises. In the event of a no-show without any prior communication, the full session fee will still apply. We value your time and are committed to providing consistent, high-quality tutoring, so we ask for your cooperation in respecting our scheduling policies. Thank you for understanding.
  • Do you offer a "meet and greet" option?
Yes, at Math-It-Up Tutoring, we offer a complimentary "meet and greet" session for prospective students and families to get to know the tutor, discuss your child's needs, and see if our approach aligns with your expectations. Contact us to schedule.
  • How can I get the most out of my tutoring session?
To get the most out of your tutoring session with Math-It-Up Tutoring, we recommend coming prepared with specific questions or topics you'd like to focus on. Share any materials or assignments you're currently working on with your tutor, so they can tailor the session to your needs. Additionally, be open and willing to engage in the learning process, ask for clarification when needed, and actively participate in the discussions or activities planned by your tutor. Remember, the more effort and participation you put into the session, the more you will gain from it. Lastly, don't hesitate to communicate your learning goals and any specific areas you may be struggling with to ensure that your tutor can provide the best support for you.
  • What should I bring to a tutoring session at Math-It-Up Tutoring?
At Math-It-Up Tutoring, we recommend that students bring any relevant textbooks, calculator (if owned), class notes, homework assignments, and any specific questions or areas they would like to focus on during the session. Additionally, bringing a positive attitude and a willingness to engage with the tutor can greatly enhance the effectiveness of the session. We provide all necessary learning materials and resources, but having these items can help our tutors better understand the student's current challenges and tailor the session to address specific needs. Remember, the more prepared and engaged you are, the more you can get out of your tutoring session with us.
  • What if I just want a "test" or "final" preparation session, not a continuous commitment?
A single session of 1 hour is the perfect solution. No strings attached.
